Do you feel like Advent is flying by and you haven’t even had time to catch your breath and focus on your spiritual life yet this year?
Well, consider joining us at the CSJ Motherhouse this Sunday, December 7th at 4:00 p.m. for Advent Vespers with musicians of St. Margaret of Scotland Church. It will be a beautiful hour of prayer, music and reflection with preaching by S. Linda Straub to center ourselves on the true spirit of the season. All are welcome!
ABOUT EVENING PRAYER
“Gatherings of the laity—for prayer, apostolic work or any other reason—are encouraged to fulfill the Church’s office by celebrating part of the Liturgy of the Hours.” (General Instruction to the Liturgy of the Hours, art. 27) The Liturgy of the Hours includes prayer throughout the day and night. The most important times, called the “hinge hours,” are Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer.
Many people may associate the Liturgy of the Hours with monasteries and Gregorian chant. But the Liturgy of the Hours is the daily prayer of the whole Church. It includes song, psalms, scripture, Mary’s song of praise the “Magnificat,” prayers of intercession and the Lord’s Prayer. This ancient prayer of the Church helps us to pray together as a family of faith and joins us in daily prayer with the universal Church.
