aggiornamento – n, pl -ti
RC Church: the process of bringing up to date methods, ideas, etc
Pope John XXIII used this Italian word in a speech in January of 1959 to refer to the need for the church to continually update and revise in order to be relevant in the modern age. As we find ourselves in the midst of another historic event in the life of the church, the resignation of Benedict the XVI, we have an opportunity to revisit the importance of “aggiornamento” in our church today.
This Tuesday, February 19th we will be viewing the first in a five part series called The Faithful Revolution. It will be an opportunity to look back at the history of Vatican II and to discuss how we can look forward as the People of God in the 21st century.
We will meet from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the CSJ Ministries building. Call and RSVP at (314) 481-8800. If you can’t make the first session, you can always join us on any of the Tuesdays of Lent at 1:30 to further our Communion with the Church during this “Year of Faith.”
